Katherine Weare is Emeritus Professor at the University of Exeter and Southampton in the UK. Her long term career has been in education, developing approaches to promoting wellbeing and addressing mental health problems in young people and those who work with and care for them.
More recently she has become known internationally for her teaching, research, evidence review and programme development on mindfulness and compassion in education. She advises various mindfulness projects such as the UK Mindfulness in Schools Project, the Plum Village mindfulness community and the UK government on policy surrounding mindfulness and wellbeing.
In 2016 she contributed to online ‘the Mindfulness Summit’ as one of “40 of the world’s leading experts on meditation and mindfulness”. She has just co-written a book with Thich Nhat Hanh, to be published in May 2017: ‘Happy Teachers Change The World: a guide to cultivating mindfulness in education. She is a board member for Mind and Life Europe.
